Parking Dispensations and Suspensions

Information about parking dispensations and suspensions and how to apply

From 1 April 2020, dispensations moved to a virtual style scheme.

All applications can be made through the MiPermit Portal. Once the virtual dispensation permit is active, it covers the vehicle registration number specified in the application. Vehicles will no longer have to display a dispensation notice.

The cost for a dispensation from 1 April 2020 is £15 per bay (5 metres), per day.

For more information please see our Icon for doc terms and conditions [28KB] .

You will need to apply for a parking dispensation or suspension, if you need to park on an area of public highway where a traffic restriction is in place.

Dispensations and suspensions are only issued if you need to have regular access to your vehicle. They are not issued as an alternative to paying a parking charge.

For more information, please read the following documents:

Apply

Applications for parking dispensations and suspensions will always be subject to advice from our Traffic Management team about safety issues. Applications may be refused if there are safety concerns.

You will need to apply at least seven working days before the required date and make a payment in full at least five working days prior to the required date. However, Parking Services has discretion to deal with more urgent applications if it is reasonable to do so.

We reserve the right to issue and withdraw dispensations and suspensions at our discretion.

Please remember: all applications for the placing of a skip in parking bays or on yellow lines must also have a skip licence as agreed with our highways team.
