Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs)

Details of what you can recycle, opening hours and booking system.

Please note:

you must book an appointment before you visit
residents must hold a valid permit before you visit
non-West Berkshire residents will need to pay a £9 entry fee upon arrival
we do not accept any commercial, trade or business waste at either of our recycling centres

What can you recycle at our centres?

To help make your visit to our recycling centres quicker, you can check where the recycling banks and rubbish skips are on our online virtual tour at Newtown Road Recycling Centre and Padworth Recycling Centre.

Monday to Friday (excluding bank holidays): 11am to 6pm.

Weekends and bank holidays: 9am to 6pm.

Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day: both HWRCs are closed.

You can book an appointment to visit a recycling centre online, here.. When you book your appointment you will need to provide your details and car registration number.

Before you visit the recycling centre, please:

check travel times and any restrictions in place
make sure you have registered for a permit (residents only, not including temporary one day pass)
make sure you have booked an appointment and have received your booking confirmation email
if you can't make your appointment please cancel or reschedule it via the link at the top of you confirmation email
if you are visiting in a hire van or a van without a commercial type vehicle permit, you must complete a waste declaration form before your visit

Both HWRCs cannot accept or permit entry to:

commercial, trade or business waste
visits on foot from members of the public
vehicles without a valid permit
vehicles with a combined length longer than 8.2m at Newtown Road and 8.8m at Padworth
