A new play area in Tilehurst

A new fitness and social area has opened at the Cotswold recreation ground in Tilehurst.

It was opened last month by Tilehurst Parish Council, and jointly funded by the parish council together with a grant from West Berkshire Council.

The new Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) includes outdoor gym equipment, children's cycling and leisure areas is now open for use. The new area has been installed in response to a survey of young people conducted by the Parish Council in 2021. A popular suggestion was that outdoor gym equipment be installed at recreation grounds and, on consideration, the Parish Council felt this would be a good way to repurpose the existing, run-down tarmacked base at Cotswold recreation ground.

Following the official opening, a larger event to mark the opening will be held later this year.
