Celebrate Foster Care Fortnight with us
Foster Care Fortnight (13 to 26 May) is an annual campaign set up by The Fostering Network to raise the profile of fostering and show how foster care transforms lives.
We're delighted to be celebrating Foster Care Fortnight 2024 with our fabulous foster carers and will be joining in with this year's theme to share #FosteringMoments - those moments that define fostering journeys, both big and small. The moments that have built confidence, made young people feel safe and created memories.
During Foster Care Fortnight, we'll be running events to recognise and celebrate the difference that foster parents make to our children in need.
Friday 17 May
Everyone can show their support for fostering by joining our foster team, foster carers and families on a mystery Twilight Walk. It's a great way to enjoy the lovely green spaces in Newbury, meet new people and find out more about fostering.
Starting outside the Council Offices in Market Street at 5.30pm, the Twilight Walk will take us via Bartholomew Street, Bridge Street, Northbrook Street and up the Old Oxford Road up to Donnington Castle.
Tuesday 21 May
Our foster families will attend our annual conference event to celebrate their achievements, train and network.
Wednesday 22 May
Join us in Victoria Park at 10.30am for an hour of bootcamp exercise run by one of our foster carers. The fostering team will be there to meet and greet anyone who wants to find out more about fostering and how to become a foster carer.
Friday 24 May
Come to our special information session at the Council Offices, Market Street, Newbury from 2pm-4pm where we'll celebrate and share special fostering moments that explain why our foster parents love doing what they do.
